About Virgin Hair
I’m sure you have all seen hair that is labeled “Remy”, and hair that is labeled “Remi”. Remy is that has all of the cuticles still intact, and laying in the same direction, as it would if it were naturally growing out of the scalp. This keeps the hair from matting and tangling, if it’s a good grade, and generally comes form a single donor.
Remi on the other hand is a much lower quality of hair, and has most likely been colored, texturized to create Yaki, or permed. Remi hair cannot be colored.
Virgin hair is graded from 1A-5A, and the higher the number, the better the hair. 4A-5A hairs is the best quality available, and last for a very long time (years). The hair is soft, with thick ends, and has much more moisture than lower grades. This hair was well taken care of by the donor from whom it was donated. Even hair that isn’t taken care of properly will still last more than 8 months.
3A hair is descent, but is drier than 4A-5A hairs. It is the most commonly sold virgin hair. This hair can be a bit dry, and requires more deep conditioning treatments.
1A hair is the lowest grade of all Remy hair, and is brittle, dry, uneven, and has split ends. You don’t want to buy 1A hair.
Since virgin hair has not been through ANY chemical process, you can dye it just like you would your own hair. There may be a few grey hairs in your virgin hair, but that is normal. Virgin hair is generally a natural dark brown, also known as a #1B, or black also known as a #1.
Also, do not be fooled by virgin Remi. It is still virgin, untreated, hair, but it is made up of leftover hair that have been swept off of the floor during the “harvesting”, that is then sewn into a weft. The cuticles are still in tact, and the hair hasn’t been chemically treated, but since the cuticles are NOT in the same direction, the hair WILL tangle. Do NOT buy this hair. Do NOT be fooled by the word virgin alone.
